THE EXTREME PINNACLE FESTIVAL
BERGENFIELD, NJ, May 2006 — Pinnacle Companies will hold the “Extreme Pinnacle Festival” in connection with its Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” build, featuring five days of music with 18 bands and 16 visual artists. The festival will take place at the build at 141 New Bridge Road from May 7 through May 11.
Pinnacle, a New Jersey-based real estate development and investment company, will build a new home in a week for the Llanes family for ABC’s Emmy Award-winning reality television show. The family will receive the “door knock” from the show’s design team on May 4 and the build will commence on May 6. The family will return to their new house for the first time at the “reveal” on May 11. The two-hour episode is scheduled to be a summer special for the show, which airs on Sunday evenings at 8 p. m.
Hundreds of volunteers will be working around the clock to finish the house on time. The music festival will provide them with the entertainment to keep their spirits high during the build, said Jay Stolar, the project manager and booking agent for the event who is also the son of Brian Stolar, Pinnacle’s president and chief executive officer. An entertainment tent will be set up at the construction site with a full P.A. system, stage, backline, sound engineer, stage manager, master of ceremonies and a banner with original artwork that will advertise the event’s sponsors.
“Considering that this is an ‘Extreme Makeover,’ we felt it necessary to have an ‘Extreme Arts Festival,’ Jay Stolar said. The festival will feature live music on site every evening from 7 to 11 p. m. with full bands performing during the first two hours and acoustic acts, jazz musicians and solo classical musicians for the last two hours. Throughout the evening, three on-stage visual artists will paint and draw to the music, capturing the perspective of the construction.
On the “Long Haul” on Sunday, May 7, musicians and artists will play and paint from 7 p. m. until 7 a. m. Monday morning. By Wednesday, May 10, at 11 p. m., 16 musical groups will have performed over 24 hours’ worth of music and 12 artists will have created over 24 works of art chronicling the construction of the home, Jay Stolar said.
The last event of the festival will take place on Thursday, May 11, at the exclusive ABC wrap party at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ. The walls will be hung with the paintings created over the past four days and the evening will commence with an art battle. Four artists will have 45 minutes each to create a work of art inspired by the music.
When they have completed their work, two winners will be selected by the audience and they will move on to the final round. The finals will take place in the main ballroom and will serve as an opener for the headlining band Julius C. Julius C. will play a set of original music and then a set of classic rock, funk and Top 40 hits. The second set will feature guest appearances from several artists who performed earlier in the festival. The entire event will be recorded and a compilation will be mixed and put up on the extreme Web site for the workers to download for free. The event will also be videotaped, with excerpts used for a feature-length documentary.
